Remembering Bob

I first met Bob and Wanda on an amazing hiking-sailing-snorkling trip in and around the Turquoise Coast.  Until then, it had never dawned on me that the word “turquoise” referred to the brilliant color of the water off the southern Turkish coast, resulting from the plant material and the reflected light.  Brilliant turquoise!  I felt an immediate connection with Wanda and Bob and was so happy to learn that they lived nearby in Bend.  And Wanda and I eventually discovered that we are sorority sisters and almost exactly the same age.

Here they are on our gulet relaxing after a day of hiking.

I remember thinking (did I say it out loud?) that  the worst thing that could happen as we clambered around a precipice was that we could die having a good time.  Bob did that, just much too soon.

And I love this shot of me sailing under the Turkish flag because, except for this picture, I never could see it when people say Mary-Margaret looks like me.
