The trick is just to go up there on the first day of school.  Crowds are gone.  Some nice people remain.  Young hikers. Grandparents fishing with pre-school children. Dog lovers.  Stop at the Huckleberry Inn on the way home for a reuben sandwich to get your strength up. Come back on country roads.  Is this a great place or what?
