Green in Fog
Can Spring be Far Behind?
Go with the flow.
It’s good to be flexible, on many levels.
This early morning in the dark I went fasting to the lab for a routine blood draw. Raced back home for coffee. Then got Roxie and me in the car to go work out at The Courthouse and The Minto, pulled out of the garage and couldn’t get the automatic door to close. By the time I figured out that a kayak paddle had slipped in front of the electric eye, this had pulled up in front of 1880:
I’m sure they would have moved to let me out, but, by then, I was running late and was admittedly looking to go back inside for a second cup.
The wonderful old houses on Fairmount Hill need regular visits from all kinds of repair folks, but clearly Meri across the street was having a serious issue. Bet she’s glad she’s renting. Now, here it is late afternoon and it looks like they are just about to close up this 4′ x 8′ x 8′ deep hole in the street.
I’ve seen the catacombs in Rome. I think this cavern attracted more visitors. We were really surprised at everything that’s entombed beneath our street!
This morning’s household hint
If it can’t be fixed with a needle and thread, a glue gun, a staple gun, WD-40, or duct tape, either toss it or call the handyman. And keep these things in your car and kayak for emergencies. I’m just off to buy a new staple gun for my reupholstering task.
I love this old sofa. It has classic lines and is as sturdy as it was before dogs, cats, and girls made use of it. It has had several coverings over time. This time, the professional upholsterer wanted $1600 just for the work, and the fabric I liked was $20 a yard. With that in mind, whatever a new staple gun costs will be a bargain.
