Matt works for Black Canyon Anglers here on the Gunnison.
This enterprise also includes a huge organic farm along the river and a resort lodge and cabin accommodations.
Today we got a tour.
First a hike along the river with the dogs where they enjoyed swimming in the adjacent pond.
Then a look at the upscale amenities. (A couple of canoodlers kept photo-bombing my shots.)
Got a great Patagonia sun shirt at the fly shop.
That logo says it all: the gorge, the fishing, and the wonderful peach orchards that line the property — full of fruit here the first of August.
Then we drove out to see the petroglyphs on the property.
Elizabeth pointed out some details.
Tragically, some of us had to wait in the car.
Matt had to go back to work, so we drove home by way of the produce stand. I swear, I would drive to Delta County every year for some Olathe corn.
We also got some poblanos which we plan to roast, and some pepper jelly to tide us over with crackers and cream cheese until dinner time.
Then, Elizabeth harvested these amazing beets from her garden. I’m not sure I can stay long enough to eat everything!
