Guns. Again.

Guns.  One hardly knows what to say. Still, people who don’t know what to say speak up anyway.
Regarding the shooting in a tiny Texas community, POTUS said, ”Gun control would have left hundreds more dead in Texas church.”
Two things about that: 1. There weren’t hundreds of people anywhere around there, and 2. The man who fired at the killer was a legal gun owner.
And the governor of Texas said, “The important thing is that if you go back to early times of this world, to the times of yesterday and last week, evil exists in this world . . . work together for love to overcome evil, and you do that by working with God.”?
I have no clue what that means. Forgiving? Lighting candles? Hugs? Saying, “You are in my thoughts and prayers.”
Some believe that people are called to be the voice of God on earth.  If that is so, what should governors and presidents and you and I be saying and doing in response to these all too-common slaughters?

  1. I am a gun owner. Since age 10 or so. The only person I have ever shot is myself. I cant tell you why I have 21 guns of different types other than I can. I dont need them but I dont want them taken away either. I dont think I will ever need any of them to protect myself and my family from marauding hordes but I guess that is my best reason for keeping them.
I agree that something needs to be done to prevent mass killings of the innocent. Changing the rules for gun purchasing is one way to do it. Make the registry a tighter system. It currently isnt. The last gun I purchased was at a gun show and after I presented my license to carry a firearm, well the rest of the transaction took about 3 minutes. When I took my training for my concealed firearm license the instructor was a retired Texas Ranger. One of the students asked a silly question about gun ownership. During a break the instructor mentioned the young man’s question. Ranger said, “I am the person who determines who gets a license, and, he ain’t getting one”. Maybe that is the answer of how we prevent these instances that have become all too common.
